It is no secret that Marvel Studios sometimes holds on to money tighter than a leprechaun does lucky charms. While The Incredible Hulk did well for the studio, the option for a sequel is still sitting on some corner table in the Marvel offices. Producer Gale Anne Hurd, however, is pushing to move forward with one.
The Incredible Hulk Sequel Still an Option
It turns out that Hurd has had ambitions to get the big green guy to the big silver screen for some time. Now that the Hulk has a lucrative franchise, the producer confirms to MTV that she has big plans for him in the years to come.
"When girls are growing up, they're the ones who are picked on," she said. "I had an older brother, and there's no way that you could ever really fight back. So, to me, the Hulk was wish fulfillment. [My family] had a little cabin, and in the summers we'd go up there. It didn't have running water and it didn't have electricity, but the big thing there was a market we would go to before we went up to our cabin, and they sold 'Spider-Man,' 'Incredible Hulk' and 'Fantastic Four' [comics].
"I always bought them out," the now-53-year-old Hollywood power player laughed. "That was my treat for the summer."
Okay, so Hurd is most definitely a fan of the franchise. But how does she plan on keeping the Hulk franchise alive? Well, like most other projects, it all comes down to the script and where the character of Bruce Banner can possibly go now. Which likely means we will have to wait to see what the Hulk might be up to in the upcoming Avengers movie.
