Zac Efron
After watching High School Musical 3 rape the box office over the weekend, Paramount Pictures has decided to fast-track a remake of Footloose. How does it compare you ask? Well, besides all the prancing around, the film will star Zac Efron and be directed by Kenny Ortega. Yes, the same Ortega that directed HSM 3.
Zac Efron for Footloose
Though Paramount already has a Footloose script from Jon Hartmere, the studio has brought on scribe/director Peter Sollett to re-write it. Unlike HSM 3, Paramount is targeting Footloose away from screaming high school girls. Strange, considering that they have been box office dynamite, but maybe Paramount is just disgusted by a film that makes high school girls er, you know, accelerated heart rates.
Efron, proving he has box office draw, is being given script approval and a mid-seven-figure salary. Judging by the picture to the right, Jared Leto also told Efron it was cool to look like him.
To make the production legit, Craig Zadan has been brought on to produce. Zadan was there for the original 1984 version starring what's his nuts. (Kevin Bacon)
