Quantum of Solace
The United Kingdom loves Bond or at least the franchise's latest installment. Experiencing a wide release in the UK Friday, Quantum of Solace sold like hotcakes taking in $8 million or £4.94 million on its first day.
Quantum of Solace Opens Big in UK
Thanks to Quantum's opening haul, the latest Bond installment has quickly become the biggest Friday opening of all time in the UK; taking the title from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, which opened to $6.5 million.
Casino Royale might have opened with $4.7 million, but it had Thursday previews to account for as well.
Quantum of Solace entered into its theatrical release in the UK with momentum on its side. Sony launched a massive promo campaign for the film and the Wednesday Royal World Premiere attended by both Prince Harry and Prince William also attracted added attention.
As far as we can tell, Solace's mixed reviews won't be stopping audiences from making it to theaters to catch Bond's latest adventure.
Quantum of Solace opens to theaters on November 7th.
