Zack and Miri Make a Porno
Katie Morgan is an experienced actor, but most of her movies don't require her to memorize lines and have a character arc. Her first mainstream movie, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, finally gave her the chance to give the kind of performance she'd always dreamed.

"I was always the only one arguing about character and motivation and all that to start with [in porn]," Morgan said. "I sort of already had the prude, important thing going on where I wanted it to be right."
For Kevin Smith's latest comedy, Morgan wanted to stick to his script, even though her costars would improvise. "I didn't really ad lib myself, although having read the script, every time Seth [Rogen] or Elizabeth [Banks] or somebody, or Craig [Robinson] said something I wasn’t expecting, I always busted up laughing because it's totally in character but not what I was waiting for. Like okay, don't smile, but that was my only thing with the ad libbing. It was not what I was expecting to come out of their mouths but me personally, I don't know if I was quite ready for jumping right in with the ad libbing so I mostly stuck to the script unless they said, 'Hey, try this.' Okay, I can do that. I'm good at repeating."
Memorization is actually one of Morgan's specialties. "Yeah, I'm a little bit photographic. If I read it once, it's like watching it on TV or if I see something. Jingles, I'm horrible with singing jingles. I'm good at the memorizing and I have, who knew, a god given gift for teleprompter. Take to it like a fish in water. So yeah."
The real adjustment was shooting sex scenes without actual penetration. "A lot less orgasmic. It was not quite the same. At all. But it looked about the same. We managed to pull that off. We definitely got things lined up properly."
