Oldboy
I don't know what's more disturbing: the fact that there is somebody out there planning a remake of Oldboy or that it is Will Smith and Steven Spielberg who are interested in doing it. I don't want to give anything away, but let me only suggest that you don't watch this film with your sister... or daughter.
Oldboy Remake in the Works
Steven Spielberg and Will Smith are in early discussions about teaming up to remake Chan Wook-park's Oldboy.
Released in 2003, the Korean thriller starts when a man gets kidnapped and held in a shabby cell for 15 years without explanation. Suddenly, he's released and given money, a cell phone and clothes and is set on a path to discover who destroyed his life so he can take revenge.
Just when he thinks he is ready to balance the status quo, something er, very weird happens.
As you might have guessed, Will Smith will play the kidnapped man. If this project falls through, expect to hear of another collaboration from Spielberg and Smith shortly. These two seem hard bent to work together.
