Crossing Over
Any time you get on the topic of illegal immigrants it is bound to get uncomfortable. One of those problems that has no perfect or even okay solution, it is hard to imagine it taking full precedent in any major motion picture. But here it is in Crossing Over, a film that not only looks at the face of illegal immigration but gets an ensemble cast to get involved.
Crossing Over Trailer
Immigrants from around the world enter Los Angeles every day, with hopeful visions of a better life, but little notion of what that life may cost. Their desperate scenarios test the humanity of immigration enforcement officers. In Crossing Over, writer-director Wayne Kramer explores the allure of the American dream, and the reality that immigrants find - and create -- in 21st century L.A.
While the trailer opens as if it is in full support and understanding of foreigners' illegal crossings into the US, it concludes on a much more negative note. As expected, the film tries to carefully follow a middle line. But don't think that means it's boring...
