Robotech
What happened to Lawrence Kasdan? After picking up the scribe to adapt Robotech this summer, it now looks like Warner Bros. has changed their mind. Replacing Kasdan, the studio has hired scribes Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to get a script written.
Alfred Gough and Miles Millar to Pen Robotech
Akiva Goldsman and Chuck Roven will produce Robotech with Tobey Maguire and Drew Crevello.
Based on the 80s cartoon series, Robotech is a sci-fi epic that takes place at a time when Earth has developed giant robots from the technology on an alien spacecraft that crashed on a South Pacific isle. Mankind is forced to use the technology to fend off an alien invasion, with the fate of the human race ending up in the hands of two young pilots.
Kasdan did finish a draft for the bigscreen version, but it was either not geeky enough or had too little action. It is unknown whether Gough and Millar will take any pointers from it.
