The opening of Tropic Thunder provides the most varied display of Blu Ray because each fake trailer looks different. There's the sparkly Booty Sweat ad, the Michael Bay/Roland Emmerich style action trailer, the pastel family friendly Fatties and the shadowy arty Satan's Alley.
On Blu-Ray: Tropic Thunder
The jungle setting of the feature looks like a real war movie. It's lush green and you see all the depth of the landscape. Like a window into the jungle, there's minimal grain. It's a travelogue, with gorgeous dusk shots.
Details like rippling rivers and cloudy mountain tips are exemplified in HD. You really see the serious grit of the overwrought hams acting up a storm. All the makeup holds up. Blu Ray doesn't destroy the illusions of Robert Downey Jr. and Tom Cruise.
