I don't want to get people's hopes up, but it has been suggested that another HUGE trailer could wind up before The Day the Earth Stood Still in theaters. We already have reason to see the film thanks to X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but that could easily be eclipsed by James Cameron's Avatar.
If the current rumor has any truth, the first trailer for Avatar might also appear before TDESS.
Avatar Trailer Coming?
Yes, the Wolverine trailer will drive moviegoers to theaters come December 12th, but Avatar would drive even more. According to MarketSaw, a teaser for the film is now available that has a running time of your usual trailer.
James Cameron WILL HAVE a video teaser ready for early December and it will have visual effects and CGI! We are not certain if it will be shown before Day The Earth Stood Still (DTESS), but the actual footage portion will be 2 minutes and 15 seconds long. I am guessing that the additional time will be filled with perhaps Cameron talking about the project and how awesome it will be, or even past box office successes from Cameron - we all know that the teaser containers said 3 minutes and 57 seconds. Or we could actually see the full 3:57 - the big message here is that we should expect to see this teaser. I still am hazarding a guess for the 3D Summit in LA or a teaser trailer for DTESS.
Don't get your hopes up just yet, but December does sound like the perfect time for Cameron to serve up his first peak to the general public.
