I just realized that it has been at least a few days since we've had an update on another adaptation. While I remain convinced that Hollywood remains out of ideas, I must admit that I'm startled by the fact that we were able to go a few days without putting another novel on the chopping block.
Let's break that silence, shall we?
Shia LaBeouf for The Associate
Paramount Pictures has picked up Shia LaBeouf to star in their adaptation of The Associate, which Lorenzo di Bonaventura will produce.
A novel by John Grisham, The Associate is a legal thriller which centers on a student who's about to graduate from Yale Law School when he's manipulated into accepting a job at a prestige law firm and given privileged information about a multibillion-dollar lawsuit.
The novel is Grisham's first 'legal thriller' since 2005's The Broker and will be published this January.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura has worked on Grisham adaptations before including A Time to Kill and The Client. The producer received The Associate while in the Middle East filming Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Can you guess who else was out there? You guess it: Shia LaBeouf.
