Playing it safe, Ray Stevenson has decided to land his next role before The Punisher: War Zone hits theaters this weekend. While I continue to cross my fingers for the next installment of Rome -- a movie might be coming -- it looks like Stevenson's career can't remain in hiatus while I try to get what I want.
Ray Stevenson will instead join Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman and Mila Kunis in Book of Eli.

Not much of a stretch from the Punisher role, Stevenson will play an enforcer dispatched to kill Eli (Washington) as he fights his way across the American wasteland, protecting a sacred book that may hold the key to saving humanity.
Allen and Albert Hughes will direct the film beginning February.
Stevenson most recently completed the Paul Weitz-directed Cirque du Freak for Universal.
