New Moon
Summit Entertainment already admitted that they were super-fasttracking the Twilight sequel, New Moon, and now they have the release date to prove it. Hoping to catch 2009, the studio has announced that New Moon will be released on November 20, 2009.
New Moon Arrives November 20, 2009
By choosing November 20th, Summit -- with Chris Weitz at the helm -- is showing some serious confidence in their franchise. By selecting that particular date, New Moon will now be forced to go up against Sherlock Holmes, Three Stooges and Planet 51.
Ever since Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince pulled out of 2008, Summit Entertainment has enjoyed the benefits of not rubbing Twilight against Potter. After finding success with a November release this year, the studio is hoping that Thanksgiving time could once again push buffo numbers in 2009.
Summit's luck, however, will eventually run out in 2010, when Potter returns to the Thanksgiving holiday.
