Watchmen
Ever since Judge What's His Nuts declared Fox the favorable side in the ongoing Watchmen lawsuit between the studio and Warner Bros I have been scouring the net looking for any update on the topic. Warner Bros and Fox have both responded and both at least agree that the important decisions will be made on the planned trial January 20th.
Fox Win Could Mean Watchmen Delay
Fox's claim is simple: They had the rights to a hot property for about two decades and did little/nothing to get a successful production going. In comes Warner Bros, who assumed that no banner remained who held any rights to the graphic novel, and, through some complicated papers, Fox found a way to still claim ownership of something that once didn't exist.
Well, that's at least how it all sounds. Fans will likely rally around Warner Bros, the studio who took the biggest risk of adapting the story with the help of Zack Snyder. If Fox were to take over distribution rights of the film, the film's delay of release will piss off fans even more. Will the studio risk it? Most definitely, as stated by a Fox attorney.
Warner Bros. doesn't yet know if it plans to appeal the judge's early decision on the matter, but still finds the trial to be completely necessary.
Watchmen hits theaters on March 6th, 2009.
