Just when we thought Warner Bros. was down and out on their push to get The Dark Knight nominated for Best Picture for this year's Academy Awards, the Producers Guild of America has breathed life back into the idea by nominating the film for Best Picture as part of the Producers Guild Awards.

PGA Best Picture Nominees

The nominees for Best Picture included The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Milk, Frost/Nixon, Slumdog Millionaire and The Dark Knight.

Why is this Best Picture nod so important for The Dark Knight? Well, considering that the PGA's 3,000 members include plenty of Academy Award voters, that is one factor. With this type of pull, the PGA works as a barometer for Oscar choices.

Last year they gave best picture to No Country for Old Men, which later went on to earn the same award at the Academy Awards.

Even if The Dark Knight does get an Oscar nomination for Best Picture, the competition this year has been fierce. Best of luck...
