Simon Pegg
If there were a way to invest in an actor, Simon Pegg would quickly become a hot stock. Soon to be seen in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek, the actor has now been confirmed for Spielberg's Tintin. For those of you who, like me, love both Hot Fuzz and Shawn of the Dead, you'll be happy to hear that Nick Frost is coming too.
Pegg and Frost the Thompson Twins
Besides Pegg and Frost, AICN confirms that Andy Serkis has even landed a part.
According to a reliable source not at all involved in the production, those rumblings we heard last fall about Simon Pegg and Nick Frost being cast as the Thomson and Thompson were right on the money. They're in. Along with Andy Serkis, who's set to play Captain Haddock, this runs the number of confirmed flesh-and-blood performers up to three!
So - Let's see what Tintin has so far. A cast that includes Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Andy Serkis. A director's chair that will seat Steven Spielberg, and a producer parking lot saved for Peter Jackson. Has Paramount got the right idea? It looks like it, but they also seem somewhat cautious. The studio is splitting the $135 million budget with Sony. Looks like they still have recession fears, though the box office has yet to feel a thing.
