Just when I thought Garrett Hedlund was going to explode in popularity thanks to the Inheritance franchise -- which kicked off with Eragon -- that was sadly not the case. No matter, as it looks like the actor has been given a second shot.
Garrett Hedlund for Tron
Disney has picked up Garrett Hedlund to star in Tron, the sequel to the 1982 cult classic.
Directed by Joseph Kosinski, Tron will find Hedlund as the lead character, a man who finds himself pulled into the world of a computer and retracing the steps of a character from the original movie named Kevin Flynn.
Jeff Bridges is reprising the role of Flynn, who was a computer programmer but ended up as the CEO of a software corporation. Olivia Wilde and Beau Garrett have also recently been cast.
While Disney first hinted that the film would be called Tr2n, it looks like they will keep it simple and just call it Tron. A sequel the same name as it predecessor? That has to be a first.
