Jackie Chan

Jackie Chan Looking to The Karate Kid
1984 to be exact. Somebody call Ralph Macchio and tell him to begin strengthening that leg, as it's about to be swept.
Looking for the Chinese mentor, Columbia Pictures is in final talks with Jackie Chan to join The Karate Kid. Who will he be mentoring? The story has been given a new twist and will star Jaden Smith.
Set in an exotic Asian locale, The Karate Kid will borrow elements of the original plot, wherein a bullied youth (Smith) learns to stand up for himself with the help of an eccentric mentor (Chan).
Herald Zwart will direct off a script by Chris Murphy. Zwart recently wrapped production on The Pink Panther 2.
Columbia Pictures hoped to have the remake filming this summer in Beijing.
