It looks like some good news from the Watchmen front. Tuesday's court conference between Warner Bros. and 20th Century Fox has been canceled. So what does that mean?
Well, either one of the lawyers had a dentist appointment or we can assume that the settlement talks that began on Friday are going well.
Watchmen Hearing Canceled
Since everything around the Watchmen case seemed like bad news it is nice to even have something as suggestive as a canceled court hearing.
According to inside sources. Fox could be willing to settle for somewhere in the tens of millions of dollars. If we look back at the copyright case of The Dukes of Hazzard, another one Judge Feess preceded over, the adaptation ended up settling for $17.5 million when blocked from release in 2005.
Since Watchmen is way bigger, Fox has been asking for upfront fees as well as a percentage of the back-end. Careful Fox, nobody wants to look too greedy.
Watchmen hits theaters on March 6th, 2009.
