Black Dynamite is one of those few films that had an audience long before its debut at Sundance. Chalking up laughs with two separate trailers, it comes as no surprise that this black action comedy would be picked up by Sony Pictures.
Black Dynamite to Explode with Sony
While the word on the street claims that Black Dynamite is a sure bet, Sony Pictures isn't so confident. Picking up the film for just shy of $2 million, the studio is now seeking a theatrical partner to help minimize their risk.
While the studio's reasoning is at least partially understandable -- the economy is currently in the gutter after all -- there has literally been no sign of a 'recession' at the box office. Making one wonder, does Hollywood still have reason to worry?
