The lack of creativity has carried down from film to television.
ABC has announced that they have signed off on a remake er, sorry, reimagining of the popular 1980s miniseries V.

While the series will still follow the invasion of Earth by an alien race, ABC is mixing things up by having the title character be a female Homeland Security agent.
4400 co-creator/exec producer Scott Peters provided the spec script for the pilot.
V represents the second pilot for ABC to be based on 1980s properties. The first was The Witches of Eastwick. As long as they bring back the scary (half-alien) baby, then I'll have less to complain about.
