Patrick Swayze
Though I wouldn't normally report on an actor or actress and their current condition, I have been rooting for Patrick Swayze ever since he announced (12 months ago) that he had pancreatic cancer. Showing that he's tough as nails -- and I'm not talking Dirty Dancing tough -- the actor has survived much longer than the average life expectancy of six months and, I'm glad to report, keeps on battling.
Patrick Swayze Still in Treatment
Around 2AM this morning I was sent the report from the National Inquirer claiming that Patrick Swayze was ending all treatment, with the goal of going out as comfortably as possible. After a year of battling pancreatic cancer, his recent bout with pneumonia left the actor too weak to go on.
While I couldn't believe it, I still had to praise the actor for battling as well as he had. The only problem was that this was the Inquirer after all, and they did have another "George Bush is an Alien" report on page two. Fortunately I sat on it, as the rumors have now been shot down.
NY Daily News reports that Patrick has NOT stopped treatment.
"What winning is to me is not giving up, is no matter what's thrown at me," Patrick said. "I can take it, and I can keep going."
