Though Emily Blunt has supposedly already been offered the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2, the actress may have to pass if she and Jason Segel agree to roles in Gulliver's Travels.
Emily Blunt, Jason Segal in Talks for Gulliver's Travels
To be directed by Rob Letterman, the reimagining has Jack Black playing Lemuel Gulliver, a travel writer who takes an assignment to the Bermuda Triangle and washes up on the island of Lilliput, where he's a giant among the tiny population. Blunt will play a Lilliputian princess and Black's love interest. Segel will play Horatio, Gulliver's best friend from Lilliput who helps rescue Gulliver when he's captured.
20th Century Fox is still in negotiations with both Segal and Blunt. Blunt's hoping that she can do both Iron Man 2 and Gulliver's Travels, but that may prove difficult considering that both have production schedules that require some of the same days on the calendar.
If Blunt does decide to go with Gulliver's Travels, Marvel will have to go back to the drawing board to find an actress to play Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2, the Soviet superspy who moonlights as Black Widow, a beauty in a skintight black costume enhanced by high-tech weaponry.
To help out both parties, Fox remains confident that Blunt can do both gigs.
