Martin Scorsese has found the next project to put on the top of his to-do list and he's already got a strong idea on who he wants to star.
Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro in Talks for Silence
Martin Scorsese is in negotiations with both Daniel Day-Lewis and Benicio Del Toro to star in Silence. As a little extra, Gael Garcia Bernal has also been approached.
Based on the Shusaku Endo novel, Silence is set in the 17th century as two Jesuit priests face violence and persecution when they travel to Japan to locate their mentor and to spread the gospel of Christianity.
Scorsese will direct off a script by Jay Cocks.
While Silence would represent the third project that Daniel Day-Lewis and Martin Scorsese have worked together on, it would be the first for Benicio Del Toro.
The film is expected to enter production later this year in New Zealand. Del Toro can next be seen in The Wolf Man while Daniel Day Lewis just wrapped the Rob Marshall-directed musical Nine.
