Green Lantern
Hollywood does it all it can to be green these days. They've even made it a point to give every 'green' character a shot on the big screen. The Green Hornet struggles to remain afloat over at Columbia Pictures and now Warner Bros. is actively working to get started on Green Lantern.
What? You thought I meant the other green? Well that too.
Martin Campbell Lighting Up Green Lantern
Warner Bros. is currently in negotiations with director Martin Campbell to direct Green Lantern, a live-action film that will be based on the DC comic. If Campbell were to commit, Green Lantern would become the top DC adaptation on the studio's to-do list.
Other DC properties including a The Dark Knight sequel, another Superman and Justice League are all in hiatus at the moment. Johan Hex, on the other hand, is a DC title WB is currently making progress on. The adaptation will star Josh Brolin as a disfigured gunslinger. Production on that begins this April.
Green Lantern was created back in 1940. The character began as Hal Jordan, a second-generation pilot who was later charged with the responsibility of defending a sector of the universe. Fortunately he is also the owner of a power ring. While the shiny object gives him strength, it also requires the utmost willpower and strength to wield it.
Martin Campbell's last film to hit theaters was Casino Royale. The director just wrapped the Mel Gibson starrer Edge of Darkness.
