As reported by Moviehole earlier this week, Liev Schreiber has been picked up by Columbia Pictures to star opposite Angelina Jolie in the spy thriller Salt.

To be directed by Phillip Noyce, Salt centers on Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is fingered as a Russian sleeper spy. She eludes capture by superiors who are convinced she is out to assassinate the president. While trying to reunite with her family, she struggles to prove someone else is the traitor.
Schreiber will play Salt's boss and friend on the Russian desk at the CIA.
If the plot sounds like you've heard it before, I found it to be strangely similar to that of the first Mission Impossible. But without the Russians.
Salt is expected to begin filming next month in New York.
