We Bought a Zoo
This is the second book acquisition this week to have a tiger on the front. It was Fox 2000 who picked up Life of Pi and (20th Century) Fox again who is moving forward with We Bought a Zoo.
Fox Acquires We Bought a Zoo
Based on the memoir by Benjamin Mee, We Bought a Zoo tells he true account of how the author and his family used their life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo, replete with 200 exotic animals facing destruction, in the English countryside. Mee, along with his children, had to balance caring for his wife, who was dying of brain cancer, with dealing with escaped tigers, raising endangered animals, working with an eclectic skeleton crew and readying the zoo for a reopening.
Ben's story received media attention with the BBC documentary Ben's Zoo.
Though no talent is yet behind the project, Fox has high hopes. After seeing a cute dog become box office gold in Marley & Me, just think of what a bunch of cute endangered animals can do.
