Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
I've finally gotten around to watching my stack of DVDs and Blu-rays and one that I was anxious to check out was Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. Having watched both Wall-E and Kung Fu Panda on Blu-ray, I now love watching CG animations on my Blu-ray player. Unfortunately, I only had Madagascar 2 on DVD. Did that make a difference? Sure, but not as much as one would expect.
On DVD: Madagascar 2: Escape 2 Africa
Actually, the DVD looks incredible when upconverted on my Blu-ray player. Thanks most in part to the already-vibrant style of the film, the video glows right off the screen. The sharp contours remain sharp, and the African wilderness gives a fantastic mix of 2D and 3D.
When reading the reviews for Madagascar 2, it always seems like the comedy is hit or miss with the critics. I for one feel as if the film was written for me, forcing me to laugh and chuckle continuously throughout the 90-minute running time.
If you just love the penguins, both the film and the featurettes give them plenty more of the spotlight this time around.
