Eclipse
Though one can only wonder what sort of box office receipts the second Twilight installment, New Moon, might bring, Summit Entertainment has already found their replacement director for Eclipse, the franchise's third book. Bringing in some Spanish flave, Juan Antonio Bayona will helm.
Juan Antonio Bayona to Direct Eclipse
Besides choosing a director, Summit also plans on having Eclipse out in theaters on June 30th, 2010. Seem pretty fast? Yes, they've been fasttracking the franchise right through development after Twilight gave the studio positive box office receipts. New Moon is also feeling the same er, rush.
If you've never heard of Bayona, know that he was like an understudy of the great Guillermo del Toro, and directed the horror-thriller The Orphanage. He will be the third director for the Twilight franchise, as Summit has opted for a different director on each installment. Catherine Hardwicke got the adaptation rolling with Twilight and Chris Weitz is stepping in for New Moon.
And speaking of New Moon, that film is set to arrive to theaters this November 20th.
