Spider-Man 3
It's been some time since Spider-Man 3, but not long enough to forget about Spider-Man 4. After years of talk, Columbia Pictures has announced that they plan to get the fourth installment in theaters on May 6th, 2011.
Spider-Man 4 Coming May, 2011
May isn't much of a surprise, considering that this franchise has done incredibly well during the month known for kicking off the summer tentpoles. What I should point out is the time Sony is giving themselves to make a quality installment. With that release date they have over two years to do casting, production and post-production.
I can think of another franchise, cough* Twilight, that is currently trying to crank out two installments per year. Will they have the same quality that Spider-Man 4 has? Absolutely not.
Marvel is adjusting a few of their other theatrical release dates to make room:
The Avengers: Pushed back from July 15, 2011 to May 4, 2012. The First Avenger: Captain America: Pushed back from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011. Thor: Pushed back from July 16, 2010 to July 17, 2011.
Iron Man 2, however, will stick to its release on May 7, 2010.
