Transformers
Though nobody is committed just yet, Paramount and DreamWorks have announced that Transformers 3 will arrive to theaters on July 1, 2011.
Transformers 3 Coming 2011
Paramount has only one reason with making such an announcement so soon, they are piss marking some territory; or should I say date? By announcing that Transformers 3 will stick close to the 4th of July in 2011, other tentpoles should immediately back off the spot.
While they now have a date, what Paramount and DreamWorks don't have is a director -- Michael Bay has not signed on just yet -- or a cast. No contract remains on Megan Fox or Shia LaBeouf, though it would be foolish for them to not come back if the upcoming sequel finds similar box office success to the first installment.
With such an early announcement, the studios have achieved their aim of having no direct competition near the popular frame. As of right now, Transformers 3 will have no direct competition until Captain America hits theaters on July 22nd.
