After much thought, Walt Disney Pictures has announced that their semi-adaptation, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, will arrive to theaters on July 16, 2010. The film will be produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by National Treasure helmer Jon Turteltaub.
The Sorcerer's Apprentice Coming July 16, 2010
With the move Disney is beginning to show some dominance in 2010. Not only do they have The Sorcerer's Apprentice coming out during the summer season, but Prince of Persia and Toy Story 3 too. Toy Story 3's release is strangely close with July 18th. I mean, the pretty much overlap.
Based on the segment from Disney's animated classic Fantasia, The Sorcerer's Apprentice takes place in contemporary New York, where a wizard (Nicolas Cage) searches for an apprentice (Jay Baruchel).
Disney was fortunate to land such a hot (literally) date, as Warner Bros. decided to hold off on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I until November instead of July.
