Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz Team for Fox Romantic Comedy

20th Century Fox is hoping to get Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz to co-star in their upcoming untitled romantic comedy that was once titled Wichita, before it became Trouble Man. Now it's just a work in progress.

Directed by James Mangold off a script by Scott Frank, the romantic comedy revolves around a woman who has terrible luck with men but finds her path intertwined with that of a mysterious handsome man she meets on a blind date.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume Diaz is the handsome man and Cruise is the woman with no luck. What? Academy Award-winning roles. I can see it already.

The project almost took off last year with Chris Tucker and Eva Mendes co-starring under director Tom Dey, but that quickly crumbled.

The original script was written by Patrick O'Neill. Mangold last directed 3:10 to Yuma.

For you movie buffs, you will remember that Cruise and Diaz have been in front of the camera before with Vanilla Sky. Remember? She was the crazy chick that thought swallowing baby batter meant unspoken promises.
