Gemma Arterton
Casting has begun for Clash of the Titans and one of the first additions, Gemma Arterton, has surfaced to discuss the remake, which, she claims, is nothing like the original.
Gemma Arterton for Clash of the Titans
The good people at Empire have caught up with Gemma Arterton to discuss Clash of the Titans.
“My part is... the coolest part,” she laughed. “Io’s not in the original film. Perseus falls in love with her and then [CENSORED FOR TINY SPOILER]. It’s a really great part.”
If you remember the 1981 classic, the story covered Perseus' epic quest, which involved killing Medusa and the dreaded Kraken. Arterton, however, claims that we shouldn't expect the exact same story.
“The script is very different,” she continued. “Obviously the story is the story, but it’s much more about Perseus’ mission, and how he deals with being the son of Zeus, and things like that, so it feels a little more about him, and about the issues around that.”
Sam Worthington, who has been riding a growing wave of big-budget films, has been cast to play Perseus, while Liam Neeson has been offered the role of Zeus. If you have yet to hear of Sam Worthington, you will after 2009. He'll appear in theaters this summer with Terminator Salvation and then follow that up with Avatar.
