Ice Cube is returning to action comedy with New Line's Ride Along, a film the studio is setting up as a starring vehicle.
Ice Cube for Ride Along
Ice Cube has also been given the dual task to rewrite the script for Ride Along with producing partner Matt Alvarez while New Line finds a director.
In the film, Cube will play a rogue cop with a soft spot for his sister. When she reveals she's engaged to an upper-crust white psychiatrist, the cop sets out to destroy the relationship by inviting his future brother-in-law on a ride-along.
Ride Along represents the return of Ice Cube to New Line, who he hasn't worked with since 2002's Friday After Next.
Greg Coolidge wrote the script, and Steve Faber and Bob Fisher did a rewrite. Steve Faber is the same scribe who wrote Wedding Crashers, one of my all-time favorite comedies.
