Warner Bros. has picked up Vic Levin to adapt Andrew Gottlieb's novel, Dumped, as a starring vehicle for Steve Carell.
Steve Carell for Dumped
In Dumped, Carell will play a man searching for new meaning in his life after his wife abruptly files for divorce.
Technically, I call that "rebound," and remember those periods of my life to be blissful, so maybe this film goes that same direction. You know, like 40 Year-Old Re-Virgin. If you've been watching Carell, then you know his popularity is still on the uphill. After signing a first-look deal with Warner Bros. through his Carousel banner, he has been in orbit of a plethora of projects.
Carell is also working with Ed Helms on an untitled comedy about a Civil War reenactor/history buff who gets accidentally transported back to the Civil War with three buddies who have to find a way home without altering history. Helms wrote the script with Jacob Fleisher.
Carell can next be seen in the Shawn Levy-directed comedy Date Night, and is expected to return to the Get Smart franchise for a sequel.
