Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
A while back Michael Bay promised that Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen would be bigger, stronger and faster than the first installment. A big claim, considering that Transformers was a visual effects marvel. But, as Michael Bay personally claims, he is awesome (watch commercial below) and he expects the same from his visual effects team.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Pushing VFX Envelope
According to vfx companies Digital Domain and ILM, Michael Bay is expecting a lot in terms of groundbreaking visuals this time around.
"He's brilliant, but he's a challenge," says Matthew Butler, Digital Domain's vfx supervisor on the film. Not only is Bay demanding, as top directors generally are, but "he's incredibly fast-paced. He's a whirlwind to keep up with, both on the set and in post."
ILM also admits that Michael Bay is pushing up the production for the second installment.
"Michael took the production value up many, many notches," he says. "Just the backgrounds alone are huge. It's a combination of Apocalypse Now and Ben-Hur, in regards to fantastic backgrounds and the unbelievable sets we worked at around the world."
Though Bay wants the best, we're also told that he still knows how to balance a budget and keep spending under control. Check out the entire report here.
Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen opens to theaters on June 26th.
