Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins
No wonder Warner Bros hasn't made the official announcement on the MPAA rating for Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. To the disappointment of probably a majority of the franchise's biggest fans, the fourth installment has been rated PG-13.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins PG-13
Pizza Hut has launched a special page for Terminator Salvation asking us to come back on over a month later to check out some exclusive footage. With a countdown clock over 30 days long, this exclusive footage better be significant. Other than that, the page does have a PG-13 stamp right in the lower left corner. What it doesn't have is the MPAA's reasoning for rating the film that way. I can only assume that an R-rated version exists, but Warner Bros likely put the pressure on for PG-13, which is more box office friendly. McG originally claimed that he was going to make the best film possible, and it would get whatever rating the MPAA decided. If it was to be R, so be it. I don't want to make assumptions just yet, but it looks like he might not have gotten his way.
While I shouldn't be all that surprised by the announcement, the film's trailer did have a very R feel to it. Thanks to Slashfilm for spotting it.
Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins opens to theaters on May 22nd.
