Tron Tron
Disney must be feeling extra confident about their upcoming Tron installment, as who else in their right mind would throw $300 million at a production?

That's right - $300 million.

Tron Budgeted at $300 Million

While covering a collection of productions, a report at the Vancouver Sun announces that Disney is getting all spendy over Tron. Hopefully a good chunk of that is for internet advertising, because God knows we can use it.

Tron redux
Vancouver post-production units are salivating at the prospects presented by the Disney remake of Tron, which carries a whopping $300 million budget and opportunities aplenty for effects and digital polish.

The 1982 version of the film starring Jeff Bridges blazed new trails in computer graphics and you can bet Tron 2.0 will push much further down the pixel path.

Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde have been cast in lead roles. Bridges is also reportedly appearing in the new film along with original Tron alumnus Bruce Boxleitner.

Disney has set up offices in town and shooting should get underway this spring.

We've already seen a couple financial flops this year, so I do have to admit to being surprised at the blown up budget. Go for it Disney, spend away.

Tron is expected to open to theaters some time in 2010.
