Odysseus
Though Troy fell completely flat when it comes to properly adapting the historical Greek epic, Warner Bros. is going to take a shot at the next chapter, which follows Odysseus.
Jonathan Liebesman to Direct Odysseus
The studio has purchased Ann Peacock's spec script for Odysseus and has set Jonathan Liebesman to direct.
The film will center on the Greek literature hero and king of Ithaca who returns to his island after 20 years of fighting the Trojan Wars only to find his kingdom under the brutal occupation of an invading force. The book also spends a great deal of time on the hero's journey home, an adventure that repeatedly tries to prevent him from ever getting back.
While I can only hope that this film turns out being violent and gritty, that might be hard considering that it was Peacock who wrote The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe; a film that felt a bit too er, fluffy.
