The Princess Bride
The Princess Bride on Blu Ray looks just a little bit better than you remember it. Not like a drastically restored movie, but like the movie you remember, only a few more details. Perhaps because of its age or perhaps the level of attention given to restoring it, The Princess Bride Blu Ray is definitely preferable to the DVD, though maybe not a home theater demo disc.
On Blu-Ray: The Princess Bride
The clarity keeps a slightly softish focus on the actors so they’re still as fresh faced and innocent as ever. Scenery shows off more detail like castle walls, mountaintop rocks, forest trees and vines, giant rat creatures, sandy pits, torture chambers and prosthetically made up townfolk.
The colors are bright, like green meadows and deep blue seas. Others are more realistic, but still pretty like castle decorations and ornate costumes. There are some grainy shots but certainly enough improved detail and color to keep us happy with the classic movie we love.
