The Dark Knight
The biggest problem with The Dark Knight being so good is that it has raised the bar too high. I for one think Christopher Nolan might be hesitant on coming back only because he doesn't think he can keep this momentum going. Personally, I don't blame him. Third films are typically not good. Take X-Men: The Last Stand for instance. X-Men: United? Amazing. Sequel? Worst of the three.
First two Spider-Man installments? Tons of awesomeness. Third installment? What the crap?
So Nolan has his legitimate reasons. Bale, however, is committed to a third installment with or without Nolan. So what does he think?
Christian Bale on Dark Knight Sequel
While talking with TotalFilm, Christian Bale had this to say about the next Batman installment.
"Will we do a third movie? It's got to be the right story. You can't make something like The Dark Knight and then come out with something disappointing.
"I would like it if people say, 'You'll never make a good third movie.' I say, 'OK, let's make a third movie in that case, let's prove them wrong. But that's just me. The fact is, I have to! I've signed up! Chris doesn't. So I'm in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn't want to!"
Bale goes onto discuss what makes this Batman trilogy so er, special. Check out the entire interview here.
