Deadpool
With the success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, a Deadpool spinoff seemed like a guarantee. The only problem is that the character's story is blown so badly in that film, one can wonder if Fox has the gall to keep the plotline running. I mean, when compared to the comics, it's completely wrong.
But, then again, Fox was sure to include an extra scene (after the Wolverine credits) that does show Deadpool alive and kicking. So what shall it be?
Deadpool Spin-Off Coming
Well, Fox is most definitely going forward with a Deadpool adaptation. I'm assuming it's going to be X-Men Origins: Deadpool, but who knows. Judging by the character's large fanbase, it also looks like 20th Century Fox might do an about-face on the plotline setup in Wolverine and stick closer to the comic.
Deadpool is Wade Wilson, a mercenary who, dying of cancer, submits himself to the Weapon X genetic alteration experiment and emerges as an indestructible semi-sane anti-hero. The character's personality fits Ryan Reynolds damn near perfectly, so it is no surprise that he'll be sticking around for the spinoff.
Other X-Men projects in the works include X-Men Origins: Magneto, a Wolverine sequel, and X-Men: First Class. That's right, Fox is banking on X-Men. Now if they can only make the franchise good again.
