Universal Pictures found success by placing Vin Diesel behind the wheel repeatedly, so Paramount thought they'd give it a shot. Adapting the video game The Wheelman, the casting couldn't have been any easier.

Since Vin Diesel played the featured character in The Wheelman it should come as no surprise that he'd be cast as lead in the adaptation. If you haven't heard of the game, no worries, as it only just got released last month.
In the film, Diesel will play an expert driver who comes out of retirement to protect a woman from his past.
Rich Wilkes wrote the script; the writing team of Oliver Butcher and Stephen Cornwell did a rewrite.
How did they come up with a script so fast? Well, it turns out that Paramount was contemplating Wheelman way back in 2006. The initial plan was to release the game and the movie side by side.
