Jason Statham is playing it safe -- if you can call action-thriller safe -- and sticking to what he knows best by starring in The Killer Elite.

Based on author Ranulph Fiennes' bestseller The Feathermen, The Killer Elite is a (semi-)true story that follows a group of former British special forces members who are being hunted by assassins. Statham will play a former Navy Seal who is forced out of retirement to save his closest friend.
Commercial director Gary McKendry will direct with filming expected to begin this fall in London, Paris and Australia. Statham took the gig when the deal wrapped up in Cannes, France.
