Dance Flick
Damien Wayans makes his feature film directorial debut with Dance Flick. His family is one of the premiere satirists in genre spoofs like I’m Gonna Git You Sucka, Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood and Scary Movie. Now the time is right to parody dance movies.

“Whenever you start seeing repetition in the same type of movie over and over again, it’s time to get Wayansed,” Damien said.
The time was also right for this Wayans to step up and head his own film. “Well, I’m an actor also so I think that this was a younger type movie, kind of like in my wheelhouse. I’ve been a student from afar in admiring Keenan for my life. The guys just felt as though it was my time. Plus, I did other things on the side. I was directing television as well as I directed short films. I went the route that you go through in order to get your first big shot. I got it and the guys trusted in me and here we go, Dance Flick.”
Dance Flick may make Wayans persona non grata with some of the celebrities it ridicules, but Wayans stands by the comedy. “I think a lot of the celebrities select themselves with just things that they do. They make it ripe to parody.”
