For as good as an actor that Tom Cruise is, I'm always surprised by the lack of casting updates from the actor. Having recently proven himself with comedy thanks to a spectacular cameo in Tropic Thunder, Cruise has made himself available to other comedic roles.
One such role is coming from 20th Century Fox, who hopes Cruise will co-star with Cameron Diaz in the action comedy Wichita.

Directed by James Mangold off what looks to be a finalized script from Scott Frank, Wichita will have Cruise play a secret agent who pops in and out of the life of a single woman. As expected, the film will have plenty of action sequences.
Though Fox has yet to select a theatrical release for Wichita, sources claim that the studio is hoping to get the film ready in time for summer 2010.
While we haven't heard a lot from Cruise, that doesn't mean that the studios aren't constantly reaching out to him. If Wichita for some reason falls through, the actor is also looking to Len Wiseman's Motorcade.
