Summer Slam Anthology Volume 1
Volume 1 of WWE’s recent release of Summer Slam: The Complete Anthology covers a lot of my childhood interest in wrestling. Mainly, disc three has the Hulk Hogan vs. Earthquake bout. I remember the trauma of seeing Hulk crushed out of commission. I knew he wasn’t really hurt but I was into the story. It never occurred to me that he was shooting a movie during that time.
On DVD: Summer Slam Anthology
I also remember the cage match between Ultimate Warrior and Rick Rude. Is that the one where Rude’s pants came down on live TV? I remember the early Irwin R. Shyster and Sensational Queen Sherri, followed later by the legitimate wedding of Randy Savagae and Miss Elizabeth. God, can you believe she’s no longer with us?
By Volume 2, they’re already out of my familiarity with the characters, let alone the bouts themselves. But it’s a kick to see some of those defining fights and events come back around on DVD.
