Drag Me to Hell
Alison Lohman fills the Bruce Campbell role in Sam Raimi’s latest horror movie Drag Me to Hell casts her as a loan officer cursed by a gypsy woman when she refuses to grant a third extension on a mortgage. Comic horror ensues.
Alison Lohman Gets Dragged to Hell
“It was difficult because a lot of the time doing a movie, you go to your trailer or hang out, do something else, so you have a little bit of a break to get away and just unload or sleep,” Lohman said. “There was no time for that on this, barely time to go to the bathroom so that was probably the hardest part of it for me, was nonstop.”
She could relate to the bank job, working under sniveling bosses though. “The closest was when I was 17 when I moved here. My boss at the time was very sexist and I said, ‘Look, if you touch me again that way, I can’t even tell you.’ I was not as submissive as my character but I know those feelings of just feeling helpless, that you just don’t have any control.”

In that way, it was a release to go all Ash on everybody. “That’s why I really liked the transition towards the end. She’s just no holds barred. I don’t give a sh*t what anybody thinks. I’m just going to do what I want to do and she doesn’t care what people think anymore.”
Perhaps there is a future for Lohman in comedy, though she played Drag Me to Hell straight. “I mean, honestly I had no idea that it would be funny, so no. I mean, because I didn’t know, I never thought of myself as being funny, so if someone approached me with it, I guess I would have to just play it like I did because it’s the only thing I know how to do.”
