I don't understand the reasoning for this. I mean, considering that Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince could have been released last winter if Warner Bros. chose to do so, why would the film need to delay its appearance on IMAX? Because Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen has the exclusive slot? Oh, now I see!
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Coming to IMAX Later
Though Half-Blood Prince is prepping to hit regular theaters on July 14th, audiences are going to have to wait until July 29th to see the film on a giant IMAX screen. News of the delay ended up bringing down IMAX stock 4% on Monday, with fears that IMAX won't be earning as much as it should on the film.
There are some perks, however. Audiences might be intrigued to at least see Potter again at IMAX, considering that the medium will be showing an exclusive 12 minutes from the film in 3D. Woohoo! I honestly don't think it's worth it, but to each his own.
