Defiance
As a new release, Defiance is a clear Blu Ray that preserves the aesthetic of its theatrical release. You’ll spend most of the time watching the forest, overcast from the high tops blocking the sun. It’s clear and detailed, but not overly colorful. This wasn’t a glamorous forest.
On Blu-Ray: Defiance
Night scenes hold up with clarity in the low light and any fire or candle light creates a golden glow to the scene, or a crisp blue moonlight. Interiors, when the Bielski boys negotiate for supplies or spy and attack, match the look of the outdoor scenes.
As the camp develops, you’ll see more and more detail in the makeshift facilities, and subtleties in the makeup for the starving survivors. Seeing the seasons change points out differences in the environment. Mainly, it’s all clear, with that bluish green hue of the European forest.
